The Rubik's Cube is a 3-D mechanical puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik

The cube is made up of 27 smaller cubes arranged in a 3x3x3 grid, with each of the six faces of the cube covered by nine stickers of a single color. The colors used on the classic Rubik's Cube are white, yellow, blue, green, red, and orange.

The puzzle is solved by twisting and turning the smaller cubes around the axis of the larger ones, with the goal of rearranging the colors so that each of the six faces of the cube is a solid color. The cube has 43 quintillion possible configurations, but only one solution.

There are several different methods for solving the Rubik's Cube, ranging from beginner-level methods that use a few basic algorithms, to advanced methods that require memorization of complex sequences of moves. Speedcubing is a popular sport where competitors try to solve the Rubik's Cube as quickly as possible.
